Show and Tell #1

A collection of delicious bits and bobs from my internet travels.
It might even turn out to be a series. We’ll see.

Time Sculpting Goodness

I love to read about people’s relationship with time. These are some of my recent finds.

Eff Cramming by Fabeku Fatunmise:

A fist-pumping, play-loving post about time (and the unsquishing thereof) from one of my favourite people ever. What’s not to love?

“A song without silence is just one big cacophony of sound.

A life without playtime and downtime and youtime is just one big pile of suck.”

Read the post here. You can also find @fabeku on Twitter.

Goodbye, Schedule. Hello, Flow. by Ken Robert:

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with visualising my day as a river, so I was delighted to find this post in my feed reader:

“So, I’ve taken some time to think about the things I love to do and the things I want to make a reoccurring part of my life, and I’ve decided that a schedule suits neither them or me.”

Read the post here. And Ken is @mildlycreative on Twitter.

The Sailboat Kit from Eileen Corrigan Valazza:

I got a copy of The Sailboat Kit a couple of weeks ago and I’m having a lot of fun with it. It’s a kind of anti-schedule for people who need a little structure but not too much. (Uh, like me.)

“So, maybe we can learn to structure our time just enough to avoid the consequences of the not-doing.
Just enough to quiet the angsty voices in our head…
Just enough to feel reassured that what we are doing in the moment is in line with what we value.
Enough to feel sure we’ll have time to do the things we love.”

Burglary Bonanza

My laptop got stolen last week. You know, the one I do all my work on. The one with my almost-finished ebook on it! Oof!

So I was very happy that I’d set up the delightfully easy (and free!) Dropbox just a few days before. Losing the laptop is still a set-back, but at least I’m not starting from scratch with my beloved book. Anyway, I’m sure you already have a good backup system in place, right? *cough* Go get one! *cough*

And while I was in security-checking mode, Lifehacker posted a useful bit of interestingness about choosing safer passwords.

General Fabulosity

Patti Digh is magnificent. So is Danielle LaPorte. So I was positively swooning when Patti turned up on Danielle’s blog saying things like:

“Everything, EVERYTHING is poetry. Everything is poetic. If you’re alive, you’re a poet. If you’re alive, you’re an artist. Life itself is a creative act.”

Terrific interview, right here.

Twitter? Of course! @pattidigh and @daniellelaporte.

And newsy bits from me… Facebook!

Yesterday, I gave my little blog a Facebook page of its very own. Awww! It’s so little and new! Wanna come and play? I’d so love to see you there.

Now it’s your turn!

Is there anything you’d like to Show and Tell? I hope so!

I’m so sorry you had to deal with burglary bonanza! {big hugs} It has happened to me a couple of years ago, and it was a huge pain in so many ways… I’m glad you had your data freshly backed up, and am looking forward to that book of yours! (No rush! whenever it’s ready is perfectly fine with me)
